Mozilla takes Fennec mobile browser from alpha to beta

mozilla-fennec-mobile-browserMozilla’s dev team announced Fennec 1.0 beta mobile browser. Fennec has been in alpha for sometime now and the team at Mozilla are comfortable with it’s feature set and performance to move the highly anticipated mobile browser to beta.

Main areas of improvement from what I’ve gathered are some speed enhancements during the start up phase. I particularly interested in the plugin functionality that will be native to Fennec along with TraceMonkey which will also be released with Firefox 3.5 in the coming weeks and is available in Firefox 3.1 beta. TraceMonkey brought huge JavaScript speed improvements which should see the same efficiencies on the mobile browsing side.
