Apple and Google Android eating up mobile advertising impression share

Millenial Media released their latest mobile findings for February 2011. In short, Apple, is leading device manufacturer on their network representing 28% of the top 15 manufacturer impression share in which is an 8% increase month-over-month. Apple iPod Touch grew 13% month-over-month and maintained the number two position on the Top 30 Mobile Devices ranking in February.

Samsung grew 50% month-over-month to reclaim the number two position on the Top 15 Manufacturers ranking. The Samsung Galaxy Tablet made its debut on the Top 30 Mobile Devices as the first Android Connected Device. Samsung also had three new Smartphones enter the Top 30 Mobile Devices ranking in February: the Samsung Fascinate, the Samsung Forte, and the Samsung Captivate.

HTC moved to the number three position in the Top 15 with a bevy of mobile devices powered by Android with a smidgeon of Windows mobile and Windows 7.

On the mobile and smartphone operating system side, Google’s Android heads the pack with 51% of Millennial’s ad impressions to 27% for Apple’s iOS. RIM takes 17% and Microsoft Corp.’s Windows Phone and Windows 7 take a mere 1%.

Millennial Media has started a new category for Connected Devices that looked at tablets and gadgets separate from smartphones. And in this category, Apple led the pack.
